ALL AMERICAN FUTURITY WINNING COMBO OF TRAINER MARCOS CARRIZALES, JOCKEY JAMES FLORES TOPS IN RP FUTURITY TRIALS

OKLAHOMA CITY – April 4, 2020 – The same combination that brought you last year’s $3 million All American Futurity winner, Mr Jess Jenkins – trainer Marcos Carrizales and jockey James Flores – might just have another 2-year-old runner that is lightning fast.

Eye Work for You put up a sparkling time of :16.663 seconds in his 330-yard trial for the restricted Grade 1, $891,900 Remington Park Futurity, in the fourth race. The effort stood up as the fastest time of the night. The top five from tonight and the top five from 10 trials on Saturday night will complete the field of 10 finalists that will run back on Saturday, April 18.

All 10 trials Friday were conducted over a fast track with temperatures in the high 30s with northerly tailwinds ranging from 10-14mph.

Eye Work for You is a 2-year-old gelding, who got to the wire first as the odds-on betting favorite at 1-2 odds, by a half-length over runner-up Dangerous Cartel. The winner is a son of Coronas Leaving You, out of the Mr Eye Opener mare Eye Love It. He is owned by Jose E. Guzman of Donna, Texas. Eye Work for You was bred in Oklahoma by Jose Acosta. This youngster has been to the track three times now and has never been worse than first when he came to the wire. On Feb. 20, he won his training race, going 250 yards in a good time of :13.92, but was nowhere near the fastest of the day.

When he was entered for his first career official race against maidens on March 13, he didn’t let a sloppy track bother him, going to the front immediately at 6-1 odds and Flores got him home in :13.106 seconds for 250 yards, showing strong improvement from his training race. On Friday night, he did it again and will be one to beat in the finals.

Here are the top five from Friday night’s 10 trials with jockey, trainer, owner, finishing time, speed index and number of trial:

1)    Eye Work for You, Flores, Carrizales, Guzman, :16.663, 94, trial four.

2)    First Lucy Lark, Jose Vega, Rex Brooks, Dustin Cox of Duncan, Okla., :16.696, 93, trial five.

3)    Apollitical Gold, Justine Klaiber, Eddie Willis, Grant R. Cox Revocable Trust of Tulsa, Okla., :16.707, 93, trial five.

5)    Dangerous Cartel, Gonzalo Gutierrez, Terry Underwood, Bill Underwood of Catoosa, Okla., :16.740, 92, trial four.
