TRAINER GUILLERMO VALDIVIA SENDS OUT TWO FASTEST WINNERS IN TRAINING RACES, TIES STACY CHARETTE-HILL WITH FOUR WINS APIECE
OKLAHOMA CITY, OK – March 1, 2023 – Trainer Guillermo Valdivia scored with four horses in training races Wednesday at Remington Park, tying Stacy Charette-Hill for the most on the day. However, it was Valdivia who sent out the two fastest winners of the afternoon through in 12 training races.
Valdivia’s fastest winner of the day by far was Lil Bit Relentless, a 2-year-old American Quarter Horse filly, in the fourth race when it was 61 degrees with a tailwind of 12 mph providing a slight push for the field. Jockey Juan Pulido was aboard for the win in :13.405 for the 250-yard race for a speed index of 87 over the fast track. It was definitely the most impressive move of the day as the daughter of Hes Relentless (2014 champion 3-year-old colt), out of the Corona Cartel mare Smokin Corona Chick, fired out of the gate like a firefighter heading to a blaze and won her heat by two full lengths.
Lil Bit Relentless is owned by Marvin Fuentes of West Friendship, Md. He purchased her for $33,000 in the Heritage Place September Yearling Sale last fall.
An indication of just how amazing Lil Bit Relentless’ win was comes in the comparison of the other training race winners. The runner-up in Lil Bit Relentless’ heat, Little Barbie Tales, finished two lengths back of the winner with a time (:13.728) that was faster than the winners in five other schooling races.
The effort by Lil Bit Relentless was significantly swifter than Valdivia’s second-fastest winner of the day in race five when Set My Heart Afire, a 2-year-old Quarter Horse colt, stopped the timer in :13.544, earning an 82 (62 degrees, 12mph tailwind). His time was better than every other training race winner.
The third winner for Valdivia came in the ninth race when Ernest, a 2-year-old gelded Quarter Horse son of Big Lew, out of the Streakin La Jolla mare Louisiana Trail, covered the distance in :13.690 (76). Valdivia scored his fourth and final winner in the 12thand final when Ivy Chanel came home the fastest, :13.905 (67).
If not for Valdivia’s dominance, it would have been trainer Stacy Charette-Hill in the spotlight with four winners. Hers were JH Wildcat (Paint) in race two, the third-fastest horse of the day with a :13.579 (80); Mr Kash Wagon, :13.585 (80), race 11; Curls Cookie Wagon, :13.619 (79) in race three, and Lipstick Lou, :13.740 (74) in race six.
The other training race winners (Quarter Horses unless otherwise noted), their times (in order from fastest to slowest winners), speed index, trainers and race number were:
Praying Monk, :13.622, 79, Durk Peery, race seven
Storms Livewire (Paint), :13.747, 74, Michelle Hurdle, race one
La Mini Gold, :13.769, 73, Luz Chavira, race eight
Botas Blancas, :13.828, 70, Juan Triana, race 10
