TRAINER CLINT CRAWFORD SENT OUT FASTEST TRAINING RACE WINNER OF THE DAY WITH KAMS RELENTLESS, SON OF CHAMPION HES RELENTLESS

OKLAHOMA CITY, OK – February 16, 2023 – Three trainers had two winners apiece in Thursday’s frigid 10 training races at Remington Park, but it was Clint Crawford’s sole winner, Kams Relentless, that turned in the fastest time of the day.

The 2-year-old gelded son of Champion Hes Relentless, out of the Cartels Candy Man mare PV Queen Bee Candy, stopped the timer in the seventh race in :13.456 seconds, producing a speed index of 85 for the fastest time of the day. He raced with a tail wind of 20 mph; the temperature was a brisk 34 degrees when he went to the gate. That was a sharp contrast to the horses that were in training races Wednesday in 60-degree temperatures. Jockey Jorge Torres was in the irons for this winner.

The three trainers with two wins apiece were Jorge Gonzalez, Dee Keener and Troy Carter. Gonzalez’s two winners were the second- and third-fastest horses of the day – Follies Rave, :13.477, 85 (speed index), race 5, and Paint Me a Pilot, :13.585, 80, race 3.

Kams Relentless has apparently added to the resume of Hes Relentless as a sire. The 2014 Champion 3-year-old Colt was the No. 1 sire of 2-year-olds (money earners) in 2022 and sired last year’s All American Futurity winner, Hes Judgeandjury. Hes Relentless, who stands at Bob Moore Farms in Norman, Okla., won eight of his 15 career starts on the track for $615,380 in earnings. He ran second in the Grade 1 Heritage Place Futurity as a 2-year-old in 2013 at Remington Park. Hes Relentless also set the track record at Remington Park for 350 yards, blazing to a time of :16.982 seconds in 2014.

The other training race winners (Quarter Horses unless otherwise noted), their times (in order from fastest to slowest winners), speed index, trainers and race number were:

  • Getaway Piloto, :13.594, 80, Luz Chavira, race 2
  • Mad Indian, :13.670, 77, Wendy Garcia, race 10
  • Ivory Turnpike Two, :13.680, 76, Heath Taylor, race 1
  • Vintage Candy, :13.717, 75, Troy Carter, race six
  • Dakota Prize, :13.827, 70, Troy Carter, race nine
  • Js Flying Chicken (Paint), :13.888, 68, Dee Keener, race 8
  • Pevs Wire To Wire (Paint), ;14.084, 60, Dee Keener, race 4.

The 2023 Remington Park American Quarter Horse, Paint and Appaloosa Season will begin on March 9.
