TELLER IMA EAGLE WINS OKLAHOMA JUVENILE AT REMINGTON PARK
OKLAHOMA CITY, Ok – March 21, 2022 – Teller Ima Eagle finished second in his Oklahoma Futurity trial on March 5, failing to qualify for the final. However, the experienced gained that night helped him find the winner’s circle in the $50,000 Oklahoma Juvenile on Saturday night at Remington Park.
Owned by Guerras Racing Stables of Weslaco, Texas and trained Troy Carter, Teller Ima Eagle battled early over the 300 yards, then pulled away late under Cody Wainscott to win by three-quarters of a length. The 2-year-old gelding stopped the clock in :15.558 over the fast track for a speed index of 86.
Reef Ridge moved well along the rail but ran out of momentum in the final yards, unable to catch the winner, settling for second. A Revenant Lady was another neck behind in third. Delight Interest, the 5-2 betting favorite, struggled at the start and was never really involved while finishing sixth.
Away at 5-1 odds, Teller Ima Eagle paid $12.60 to win, $5 to place and $3.60 to show.
A 2-year-old gelded son of This Is An Eagle, from the Teller Cartel broodmare Teller Baja, Teller Ima Eagle was bred in Texas by Juan Medina. He earned $20,000 for the Oklahoma Juvenile win to move his earnings through two career races to $21,190.
The Oklahoma Juvenile is for 2-year-olds who competed in the Oklahoma Futurity trials but were unable to manage a top-10 time to qualify for the Grade 2 final.
