SANIDEE WINS THIRD RACE IN SIX STARTS, FIRST VICTORY AT REMINGTON PARK, TAKING FEATURED ALLOWANCE RACE
OKLAHOMA CITY, OK – April 16, 2021 – Sanidee won for the first time at Remington Park in the featured allowance race Friday night but he made it to the winner’s circle for the third time in his last four starts.
An indication that this 3-year-old gelding might turn into something special came in a race at Remington Park a little more than a year ago. On April 2, 2020, in Oklahoma City, Sanidee went to post as the 8-5 favorite in a maiden race. He lost by a nose to a horse named Candy Blood in that start. A couple of weeks ago, Candy Blood ran the fastest trial to qualify for the finals of the restricted Grade 2 $355,800 Remington Park Derby that is a part of a card that features the restricted Grade 1 $926,500 Remington Park Futurity the. The card also includes six other stakes races.
Sanidee might have raced in the Remington Park Derby trials but it is restricted to Oklahoma-breds. This 3-year-old gelded son of Dominyum, out of the Ivory James mare Sanibel, was bred in Texas by Bobby D. Cox. So he settled for this $26,000 allowance race for 3-year-olds and outlasted his competition. He blasted out of the gate second into the stretch and passed them all before having to hold off the late charge of 8-1 longshot Apollitical J Julia, who lost by a neck. She was another neck in front of Fly Miss Corona Jess (16-1). This was one of three wins for second-leading rider Francisco Calderon. Jockey Jorge Torres also had a three-bagger in the jockeys’ race.
The 2-1 favorite, Lil Latin Lupe Lou, finished fifth in a blanket finish that wasn’t much more than a length behind the winner.
Sanidee earned $11,872 for the victory and improved to six starts, three wins, two seconds for $31,562 earnings in his short career. Juan L. Vazquez trains the winner for Cox. Running time for the 300 yards was :15.139 seconds, earning a blistering speed index of 99 on a sloppy track. Sanidee, second favorite at 5-2, paid $7.60, $4.60 and $3.80 to win, place and show.
The rest of the week’s live racing schedule is Saturday and Sunday with first post time of 6 p.m. nightly.
