REMINGTON PARK PURSES INCREASE FOR THE FINAL WEEKS OF SPRING SEASON
OKLAHOMA CITY, OK – May 19, 2021 – Competition over the final seven dates of the 2021 Remington Park American Quarter Horse, Paint and Appaloosa Season is now worth substantially more, thanks to a hefty purse increase.
The last two weeks of racing will see a jump in overnight purses of 28% for Quarter Horse racing and 45% for Paint and Appaloosa races. The purse increase was implemented after Remington Park management and the Oklahoma Quarter Horse Racing Association board met on Tuesday. The purse hike goes into action for racing this Thursday, May 20 and continues through the final night of the season on Saturday, May 29.
“Remington Park was fortunate to continue racing during the onset of the pandemic in 2020, as one of the few race tracks in operation without spectators. New horseplayers discovered the intensity and excitement of our sport a year ago, and many of them remained loyal to the action, returning to play this year,” noted Matt Vance, vice president of racing operations at Remington Park. “This purse increase is made possible in part to our longtime fans and players who have stayed with us throughout the years, in addition to the newcomers.
“We accomplished record highs in pari-mutuel handle for 2020 and those positives have carried into this year. This purse increase will benefit the horse owners and trainers who have supported Remington Park without pause for the last two years.”
Remington Park racing continues Thursday-Sunday, May 20-23, this week with the first post nightly at 6pm-Central.
