REMINGTON PARK OPENING NIGHT PROGRAM FEATURES A DOZEN RACES ON MARCH 7
OKLAHOMA CITY, OK – March 1, 2024 – The Remington Park racing office has compiled the racing card for the first night of the 2024 American Quarter Horse, Paint and Appaloosa Season at Remington Park. A total of 12 races were drawn for the opener on Thursday, March 7.
The first night of the season will feature six trials for the Grade 1 Oklahoma Paint & Appaloosa Futurity. A group of 53 Paints and Appaloosas will compete at 300 yards, attempting to qualify in the fastest 10 for the final field on Saturday, March 23. The Paints have the majority of the trial entrants with 46 scheduled to compete while there are seven Appaloosas in the heats for 2-year-olds.
Painted To Be Quick, an impressive Paint filly who posted a brilliant training race time of :13.54 at 250 yards on Feb. 22, will compete in the eighth race on Thursday, the fifth of six trials. Francisco Calderon rode Painted To Be Quick in the training race and keeps the mount for trainer Matt Whitekiller. The filly is owned and bred in Oklahoma by Bryan Hawk of Shawnee, Okla. She is by multiple World Champion Painted Turnpike from the CRM Livewire broodmare Quick To The Wire.
The total purses for the 12 races to open the Remington Park season reached $163,500. There are 111 horses entered for opening night, for an entry field-size average of 9.25 per race.
Opening Night racing begins March 7 at 6pm. The final event of the dozen to start the season is slated for 10:57pm.
The first week of the Remington Park season will include trials for the Grade 2 Oklahoma Futurity on both Friday and Saturday, March 8 and 9. Sunday afternoon racing on March 10 will feature trials for the Grade 3 Oklahoma Derby as well as the Grade 2, $50,000 SLM Big Daddy Stakes.
The first race nightly is 6pm. Sunday racing begins at 4pm. All times are Central.

Located at the junction of Interstates 35 & 44, in the heart of the Oklahoma City Adventure District, Remington Park presents simulcast racing daily and non-stop casino gaming. CompSource is no longer the state agent in Oklahoma, and the new state agent is NCCI. Because of that change, CompSource is no longer required to cover high-risk employers, so some folks are getting denied at renewal.
NCCI website can look up agent info and see what their options are: www.ncci.com (We’ve talked to Jackson with Stavely Insurance in Sallisaw, and he has written policies for some trainers. His number is (918) 775-4344.)

• Track renovations were delayed due to weather. Unfortunately, training will be postponed until Saturday, 2/7. While this is an inconvenience, we appreciate Remington Park’s commitment to providing a safe racing surface.
• Carly with APHA will be in the racing office Thursday, 2/5 if you have Paint papers that need to be transferred.
• Schooling race entries are Friday. Registration papers must be on file, and owners must have $125 in their account at time of entry. The draw for schooling races will be Monday, 2/9.
• Hair Testing at Remington Park begins Thursday, 2/5 and will be Monday–Friday. Appointments must be made by noon the day prior by calling or texting (405) 881-5120.
• Safe date for opening weekend is February 12.
• Zero date is noon on February 18.
• If you have digital Health Certificates, they must be printed and in hand when arriving at the stable gate.
Finally: There has been an EIA positive at BRD. We are working closely with state authorities and Remington Park management to determine protocols moving forward. At this time, no horses from the Sallisaw Training Center (BRD) are being allowed on the grounds.
