QUEEN FOR CASH WINS FOR FOURTH TIME IN FIVE RACES, TAKING SPEEDHORSE GRAHAM PAINT & APPALOOSA STAKES
OKLAHOMA CITY, OK – March 21, 2021– Queen for Cash returned to the top of the heap for 3-year-old Paints and Appaloosas on Saturday night, winning the Grade 1, $43,950 Speedhorse Graham Paint and Appaloosa Stakes.
The 3-year-old Appaloosa filly had a slight blip in her last race, on May 30 at Remington Park last year, running third in the final of the Speedhorse Graham Paint and Appaloosa Futurity, her only career loss. Queen for Cash has now won four-of-five starts lifetime, including this first attempt as a 3-year-old and the Victoria Ennis Stakes at Remington Park last April. The daughter of Hes Relentless (QH), out of the Ivory James (QH) mare Ivory Queen earned $26,880 from the purse for the win, improving to $59,743 in her young career.
Queen for Cash was never worse than second and outlasted Tales U Lose and WF Turnpike Candy by a head and a nose at the wire, respectively. Jockey Daniel Torres remained white hot for his trainer Carlos Ruiz, winning for the third time as a combo on Saturday night when Queen for Cash crossed the finish line. The filly was bred in Oklahoma by her owner Gary Vaughan of Coalgate, Okla.
Queen for Cash handled the 350-yards over a fast track in :17.818 seconds, good for a speed index of 82. She was running into an 11mph headwind
Away at 7-2 odds, Queen for Cash was the third wagering favorite in the race. WF Turnpike Candy was the beaten favorite at 8-5 odds. Queen for Cash paid $9.80, $6 and $3.80 across the board to win, place and show. The $2 exacta, with Tales U Lose a 28-1 longshot in second, was worth $196.20 to those who bet it. Mammy Jammer, the second favorite at 3-1, could do no better than ninth in the field of 10.
Live racing continues Sunday, March 21 with first post time of 6pm-Central.
