PAINT HORSE CRL HARDWIRE OUTRUNS QUARTER HORSES FOR FASTEST TIME IN NINE TRAINING RACES

 

OKLAHOMA CITY – March 10, 2021 – It doesn’t happen often, but a Paint horse put up the fastest time of the day in training races that included a majority of Quarter Horses on Wednesday at Remington Park.

CRL Hardwire, a son of top-five Paint sire CRM Livewire, showed an amazing burst of speed to race 250 yards in :13.838 on a fast track for a 66-speed index into a stiff 24mph headwind. That was the third race of the day at a comfortable 74 degrees.

The fastest time for a Quarter Horse on Wednesday was First Prize Dash 2’s :13.850 that equaled the top speed index of 66. First Prize Dash 2’s victory came in the eighth of nine races when the temperature was 79 degrees while facing a 22mph headwind.

CRL Hardwire was ridden by Jimmy Brooks to the three-quarter lengths victory for trainer Eddie Willis and owners Wade and Susan Leggett of Muskogee, Okla. The horse’s sire, CRM Livewire is No. 5 on the all-time top Paint sire list from the American Paint Horse Association with progeny earnings of $2,867,035. Willis, the defending trainer champion from 2020, trains both Quarter Horses and Paints/Appaloosas with equal success. He has taken home the training trophy from Remington Park an unprecedented 11 times, one more than the late Rodney Reed.

Manuel Rodriguez conditions the fastest Quarter Horse training race winner, First Prize Dash 2 for owner MRB Racing. This filly won by three-quarters of a length in her schooling event.

Remington Park live racing continues Thursday through Sunday, March 11-14, with the first race nightly at 6pm-Central.
