ONE VALIANT LOVE BLOWS FIELD AWAY IN $100,000 HERITAGE PLACE JUVENILE
OKLAHOMA CITY, OK – June 3, 2023 – After three horses scratched from the $100,000 Heritage Place Juvenile, it didn’t leave much competition for One Valiant Love, who was sent off at 8-5 odds on Saturday.
The 2-year-old gelded American Quarter Horse proved that to be the case with a 1-1/4 length victory, cruising home easily under jockey Francisco Calderon. It was the first win in this stakes series for Calderon, trainer Monty Arrossa and owner Dunn Ranch of Wynnewood, Okla.
Well beaten in second was Deck Stack, the second betting favorite at 5-2, who was another half-length in front of Docs Dusty Dash (8-1) who finished third.
One Valiant Love, a 2-year-old son of One Valiant Hero, out of the One Famous Eagle mare Echoes of Love, was purchased for $27,000 at the Heritage Place September Yearling Sale last fall. He is now two-for-three in the winner’s circle and was second by a neck in his other start, compiling $44,364 in his young racing career. He won $31,645 for his juvenile victory.
Running time for the winner at 350 yards was :17.335, earning a speed-index of 95 on the fast track. One Valiant Love paid $5.40 to win, $3.60 to place and $2.80 to show. Calderon has been aboard for both of his wins. He took over in the saddle after he lost his first race. Now he has a trial win and a stakes win with One Valiant Love.
The Heritage Place Juvenile is for 2-years-old who competed in trials for the Heritage Place Futurity but did not make the final of the Grade 1 race. The remaining order of finish in the juvenile was: Paint This Rose (4th), JT True Grit (5th), BV Brother (6th), Coronados Fate (7th).
