OKLAHOMA FUTURITY TRIALS AT REMINGTON PARK TO SPLIT OVER TWO RACE NIGHTS

OKLAHOMA CITY, OK – February 4, 2021 – Horsemen will enter their 2-year-old American Quarter Horses on Feb. 27 for trials of the longest running futurity in the history of the sport, the Oklahoma Futurity. Due to an overwhelming response in nominations, the trials will be contested over two nights of racing on Friday and Saturday, March 5-6.

The finals for the estimated $380,000 event are set for March 20. The Oklahoma Futurity is the longest-running futurity in the sport of American Quarter Horse racing, with the first edition in 1947. The 2021 race will be the 80thrunning, held since 2006 at Remington Park.

The historic Oklahoma Futurity carried a final purse of $383,725 in 2020 and was won by the filly Aint She Tempting, who stormed home a winner at 18-1 odds for trainer Monty Arrossa and owner Levings Racing of Edmond, Okla. She was ridden by three-time defending Remington Park title holder James Flores. He will be going for his fourth crown in a row at this Oklahoma City track. It was Arrossa’s first stakes win at Remington Park, in his initial season here.

The Oklahoma Paint and Appaloosa Futurity trials will move from Friday, March 5 to the Opening Night of the season, Thursday, March 4, to make room for the extra night of Oklahoma Futurity trial heats.

The Remington Park Quarter Horse, Paint and Appaloosa season will continue through Saturday, May 29.
