OKLAHOMA FUTURITY FIELD SET, GRADE 2 EVENT HEADLINES SATURDAY PROGRAM AT REMINGTON PARK
OKLAHOMA CITY, OK – March 20, 2024 – The field for the Grade 2, $502,385 Oklahoma Futurity has been set. The historic 83rd edition of the longest-running futurity in American Quarter Horse racing headlines the Remington Park card on Saturday, March 23.
Miss Perrys Cowgirl has been tabbed as the 5-2 morning-line favorite by odds-maker Jerry Shottenkirk. The filly won her trial on the second night of qualifying for the 300-yard race on March 9, drawing off to win by 1-1/2 lengths. Owned by Reliance Ranches of Guthrie, Okla., Miss Perrys Cowgirl is trained by Cody Noel and will be ridden by regular jockey Mario Delgado.
A daughter of Flying Cowboy 123 from the Tres Seis broodmare Miss Perry Tres, Miss Perrys Cowgirl was a $150,000 purchase at the 2023 Heritage Place Yearling Sale.
Second on the morning-line odds is Joose Boxx, the fastest qualifier from trials on Thursday, March 8. Trained by Juan Diaz, Jr. and ridden by Nestor Duran, Joose Boxx, battled over a sloppy track to win his trial by a head over Finn McOol. Joose Boxx is 3-1 on the morning line.
The top time qualifier from March 9 was Ihearthetrainarollin who finished fast under Jesus Olivas who keeps the mount for trainer Juvenal Licona-Vazquez. A filly by Freighttrain B, Ihearthetrainarollin is 15-1 on the morning line.

CompSource is no longer the state agent in Oklahoma, and the new state agent is NCCI. Because of that change, CompSource is no longer required to cover high-risk employers, so some folks are getting denied at renewal.
NCCI website can look up agent info and see what their options are: www.ncci.com (We’ve talked to Jackson with Stavely Insurance in Sallisaw, and he has written policies for some trainers. His number is (918) 775-4344.)
