MAMMY JAMMER LEADS FROM GATE TO FINISH LINE IN AMERICAN PAINT STAKES AT REMINGTON PARK
OKLAHOMA CITY, Ok – April 26, 2021 – Mammy Jammer returned to her winning ways on Saturday at Remington Park, leading every step over 400 yards to take the Grade 1, $32,550 American Paint Classic.
Mammy Jammer used a quick start under jockey Cody Wainscott and dug in to hold off all challengers in the event for 3-year-old Paints. The filly by CRM Livewire from the Little Jungle Jet mare Dashin DD, almost opened up a daylight lead at the midway point of the race before others kicked into high gear. This Wire Is Hot found his best stride over the final 200 yards but his late gain ran out of real estate as Mammy Jammer crossed the finish line a neck in front in :20.109 over a fast track. The time earned a speed index of 80.
Power Fade settled for third, 1-1/4 lengths behind the winner. The remaining order of finish was WB Stevie Nix (4th), Living In The Past (5th), Js Shezaquickchick (6th), Copper Wire (7th) and Sparkling Moondust (8th).
Away as the even-money betting favorite, Mammy Jammer paid $4.20 to win, $3.20 to place and $2.20 to show. Trained by her breeder Ray Enlow for owner Roy Perkins of Vernon, Texas, Mammy Jammer found the winner’s circle for the first time this year. She completed her 2020 campaign with two straight futurity victories while competing at Will Rogers Downs in Claremore, Okla. last fall. She won the Pot O Gold Futurity in October before coming home triumphant in the Speedhorse Paint/Appaloosa Futurity Championship in November.
Mammy Jammer has now made 11 career attempts, winning five races with two second-place runs and three more third-place finishes. The American Paint Stakes was worth $14,925 to the filly, who now boasts a career bankroll of $83,516. She was bred in Oklahoma.
Remington Park racing continues Sunday, April 25 with the first race at 6pm-Central.
