by Richard Linihan
OKLAHOMA CITY- OK – April, 28, 2024 – LS Jacks Back moved into the winner’s circle for his second stakes win of the meet, taking down the Grade $45,040 Bob Moore Memorial Stakes on Saturday night at Remington Park.
The 5-year-old gelded son of Corona Cartel, out of the Desirio mare PJ Chick in Black, won his first out of the meet on March 16 in the $68,000 Mighty Deck Three Stakes at 250 yards, for Oklahoma-breds. He won Saturday night at 300 yards against open-company American Quarter Horses, 3-year-olds-and-up. This hard-knocking gelding’s only loss this meet was by less than a length in fourth during the $68,000 Mr Jet Moore Stakes on April 6.
Jockey Ali Rivera, who has been in a race for the top of the standings with Roman Cruz and Francisco Calderon, scored for trainer John Stinebaugh. LS Jacks Back earned $28,692 from the purse for owner LS Racing (Lynne Smith) of Comber, Ontario, Canada, and improved to 27 starts, six wins, seven seconds and four thirds for lifetime earnings of $270,319. It was the first win in this series for all the connections of the horse.
Running time for LS Jacks Back was :15.467 on the fast track for a speed-index of 91. He was bred in Oklahoma by D. Bowen, S. Taylor and J Smith Farms.
Dickey Bob (12-1) was a fast-closing second by a neck from the outside and Politiko (4-1) checked in third, another head behind. LS Jacks Back was sent off as the 8-5 favorite and paid $5.40 to win, $3.40 to place and $2.40 to show. The rest of the order of finish was Otts Boy (5-2) in fourth, RGs Gold Wagon (6-1) fifth, Tyger King (5-1) sixth and Pulgarcitos Moonin (52-1) seventh.
The Bob Moore Memorial is named in honor of the Hall of Fame horseman who was prominent in American Quarter Horse racing for over four decades, operating from his Norman, Okla. farm. Bob Moore Farms continues to be a leader in breeding quality horses.
