LOVE IS EVERYTHING V TAKES SECOND STRAIGHT REMINGTON PARK STAKES WIN
OKLAHOMA CITY – April 19, 2020 – Love Is Everything V’s 3-year-old year is turning into something special.
After winning the $232,600 Oklahoma Derby on March 21, this gelded son of One Valiant Hero, out of the One Famous Eagle mare Echoes of Love, made it look easy in the $48,500 Mr Master Bug Stakes at Remington Park on Saturday night, giving trainer Eddie Willis his second stakes win in a row during the eight stakes extravaganza evening. It also was Willis’ second time to win the Mr Master Bug, having done so in 2011 with Blackwater Command. Jimmy Brooks was also on that winner and now has two wins as well, taking both trophies for Willis.
Running time for Love Is Everything V was :17.548 for 350 yards over a fast track. This gelding is owned by James Sills of Cedar Hill, Texas. It was his first win in this event.
Love Is Everything V added $26,646 to his bankroll and improved his career running line to 12 starts, five wins, three seconds and one third for lifetime earnings of $220,076. As the 4-5 post-time favorite, he paid $3.80, $2.80, $2.20 to win, place and show. At the finish line, Love Is Everything V was 1-1/4 lengths in front of runner-up Ritas Back On Track (6-1), who was a head up on BV Sheslikethewind (7-2).
Love is Everything V was bred in Oklahoma by Valeriano Racing Stables. Not many racing time stakes records were challenged Saturday night with a 16 mph southerly headwind. This horse, winning easily, was still a full half-second behind the stakes record of :17.027 set in 2015 by Gold Digging Ashley.
Love is Everything V had beaten a strong field in the Oklahoma Derby, easily defeating Uptowne Babe, the winner of last year’s richest race of the Remington Park season, the $1 million Heritage Place Futurity. Love is Everything V has now won two-of-three starts at the 350-yard distance and ran second in the other. He is three-for-six lifetime at Remington Park.
The Mr Master Bug is named after the 1982 All American Futurity winner who was bred and owned by Marvin and Lela Barnes of Ada, Okla. Mr Master Bug earned American Quarter Horse Champion honors in three consecutive years from 1982-1984 and retired with more than $1.7 million in earnings.
Racing is scheduled to continue, with no public spectators, with Sunday’s 10-race card on tap with a new post time of 6 p.m. (Central) for the first race.
