LAST YEAR’S RAINBOW DERBY WINNER, CERS FINAL TRY, MAKES HIS FIRST 2021 TRY A WINNING ONE
OKLAHOMA CITY, OK – March 12, 2021 – CERs Final Try won for the fifth time in his last seven starts after taking Thursday’s $29,000 Midwest City Dash allowance race at Remington Park, and showed his class in doing so.
Last year, the American Quarter Horse Association Champion 3-year-old gelding won the $710,000 Rainbow Derby and came close to winning the Triple Crown for his age. This son of One Dashing Eagle, out of the Corona Cartel mare BP Shes All Corona, ran second in the $887,000 Ruidoso Derby and third in the $1,078,000 All American Derby, all at Ruidoso Downs in New Mexico. It looks like the 4-year-old version of this horse is going to be just as tough to beat as he was in 2020.
CERs Final Try broke like a missile and never gave way to his competitors in the 300-yard race. JockeyEsgar Ramirez, a two-time winner of the All American Futurity in his career, was aboard for the win for trainerTony Sedillo and owner Christina D. Robinson of Southern Pines, N.C. CERs Final Try covered the distance in :15.229 for a speed index of 96. His winning margin was a full length.
CERs Final Try, bred in Oklahoma by Charles E. Robinson, paid $3.40, $2.40 and $2.10 across the board to win, place and show, as the heavy odds-on 3-5 favorite. He improved his racing record to 18 starts, eight wins, three seconds and four thirds for career earnings of $675,852. His take from winning his first race at Remington Park was $15,742.
It was a tight finish for second between Ten Sent and Jesse D, who hit the line close together, but in the end, the 15-1 longshot, Ten Sent, out-nosed Jesse D, who was sent off as the 5-2 second betting favorite.
Remington Park live racing continues Friday-Sunday, March 12-14, with the first race nightly at 6pm-Central.
