KOOL N FOXY HANDLES STRONG HEADWIND TO POST TOP TRAINING RACE ON MONDAY, VALDIVIA SADDLES FOUR WINNERS
OKLAHOMA CITY, OK – February 21, 2022 – In an effort to avoid winter weather conditions forecast later this week, Remington Park conducted a dozen training races today in spring-like conditions. Under overcast skies, Kool N Foxy rolled to a 1-3/4 length win in the initial event of the day, setting the fastest 250-yard time of the session.
Owned by Thomas Scheckel of Bellevue, Iowa, Kool N Foxy is trained by Shawna Manriquez and was ridden to her score by Daniel Torres. A 2-year-old filly by One Famous Eagle from the Walk Thru Fire mare Kool Fire, Kool N Foxy is Oklahoma-bred. She handled her training race in :13.818 over a fast track, earning a speed index of 71. A prevalent headwind lasted throughout the session with Kool N Foxy moving into a 20mph wind. The southerly winds ranged 18-21mph. Temperatures started in the high 60s and moved into the low 70s by mid-afternoon.
Trainer Guillermo Valdivia will be hoping his Monday training race fortunes carry to the real races as he sent four winners out throughout the day. Valdivia saddled Relentless Diamond (race 5), Our Secret Habit (race 7), Inseperable Friends (race 9) and Midnight Panther (race 10) to training wins.

Training races are non-wagering events, utilized by horsemen to give their young athletes a dress rehearsal prior to them making their first official career starts. All horses taking part in the training races are also earning approval by the Oklahoma Horse Racing Commission stewards for pari-mutuel competition.
Opening Night for the 2022 season is fast approaching on Thursday, March 3. Racing at Remington Park this meet is scheduled to run a Thursday-Saturday schedule at 6 p.m. nightly and Sunday at 4 p.m. Special start times include Kentucky Derby Day (May 7) and Preakness Stakes Day (May 21) when Remington Park action begins at Noon. The Champions’ Night program on May 28 will begin at 5pm. All times are Central.

CompSource is no longer the state agent in Oklahoma, and the new state agent is NCCI. Because of that change, CompSource is no longer required to cover high-risk employers, so some folks are getting denied at renewal.

• Track renovations were delayed due to weather. Unfortunately, training will be postponed until Saturday, 2/7. While this is an inconvenience, we appreciate Remington Park’s commitment to providing a safe racing surface.
• Carly with APHA will be in the racing office Thursday, 2/5 if you have Paint papers that need to be transferred.
• Schooling race entries are Friday. Registration papers must be on file, and owners must have $125 in their account at time of entry. The draw for schooling races will be Monday, 2/9.
• Hair Testing at Remington Park begins Thursday, 2/5 and will be Monday–Friday. Appointments must be made by noon the day prior by calling or texting (405) 881-5120.
• Safe date for opening weekend is February 12.
• Zero date is noon on February 18.
• If you have digital Health Certificates, they must be printed and in hand when arriving at the stable gate.
Finally: There has been an EIA positive at BRD. We are working closely with state authorities and Remington Park management to determine protocols moving forward. At this time, no horses from the Sallisaw Training Center (BRD) are being allowed on the grounds.
