OKLAHOMA CITY, OK – March 14, 2025 – Jockey Edwin Escobedo and trainer Dee Keener enjoyed a successful opening weekend of the 2025 Remington Park American Quarter Horse, Paint and Appaloosa Season. Their efforts have been recognized with the initial Lip Chip Jockey and Trainer of the Week awards.
Escobedo racked up five wins from 22 attempts for a 23% victory rate. He also qualified Ruse Ticle Knockout to the Grade 2 Oklahoma Futurity, while managing to qualify Baby Ruth to the Grade 3 Oklahoma Derby.
Keener is seeking his third consecutive leading trainer title at Remington Park and is off to a flying start. The Inola, Okla. conditioner piled up five wins on the season’s opening night, with all five qualifying for the $208,300 Oklahoma Paint & Appaloosa Futurity.
Keener finished the weekend with eight wins total for a rate of 24%. He also had three second and four third from 33 starters for an in-the-money mark of 45%.
Both Escobedo and Keener will be honored during a winner’s circle presentation on Friday evening, March 14.
Davis Represents Remington Park in Las Vegas
The 26th National Horseplayers Championship begins Friday in Las Vegas with Mark Davis of La Vista, Neb. representing Remington Park. The NHC will continue through the afternoon of racing on Sunday, March 16.
Davis won the qualifying seat thanks to his successful efforts playing the ThoroEnduro online game at Remington Park last fall. This is the first time for Davis competing at the NHC, the top handicapping challenge in North America. He will be one of more than 600 contestants battling for a grand prize of at least $800,000 with total prize money in the millions of dollars.
Remington Park racing continues Thursday-Sunday, March 13-16 with the first race nightly at 6pm. Sunday racing begins at 4pm. All times are Central.

Entice Me Ona Monday is the 2-1 morning-line favorite for the restricted Grade 1 event, for eligible Oklahoma-bred 2-year-olds. Owned by Tejas Troubadours of Rhome, Texas and trained by Jason Olmstead, Entice Me Ona Monday put up the best time at 330 yards on Friday, April 4 to head a group of five from that first night of trials for the Remington Park Futurity. Jockey Ramiro Garcia was up for the trial and has chosen to stay on the gelding by Cyber Monday from the Make It Anywhere mare Enticilizeur.
Garcia also qualified three other Olmstead runners for the Remington Park Futurity in Illegal Cowgirl 123, Good Blue Candy and AJs Secret Cash but elected to stay with Entice Me Ona Monday.
The Oklahoma Futurity winner in March, Flying Joy 1, is the second morning-line favorite at 9-2 odds. She finished second on trials night to Entice Me Ona Monday, beaten a half-length. The placing was the first defeat for Flying Joy 1 from three starts this season. She posted victory in the Oklahoma Futurity on March 22 for owner David Rogers of Graham, Texas and trainer Trey Wood. Jockey Ricky Ramirez keeps his usual mount for the Remington Park Futurity.
Jamies Sin Tacha, the top qualifier from the second evening of trials on Saturday, April 5, is the third morning-line favorite at 5-1 odds. Jamies Sin Tacha is owned by Miguel Vargas of Grand Prairie, Texas and trained by James J. Gonzales III. He will be ridden again by Christian Cardenas.

The total purses for the 12-race program stand at more than $1.6 million.
