EAGLES FLY HIGHER WINS SECOND STRAIGHT STAKES RACE, SCORING MR JET MOORE AT REMINGTON PARK

 

OKLAHOMA CITY, OK – April 1, 2021Eagles Fly Higher continued his assault on Remington Park stakes races this spring, winning his second of the season. The 5-year-old horse pulled away to win the $68,000 Mr Jet Moore Stakes by one length.

A restricted Grade 2 event for Oklahoma-breds, the Mr Jet Moore was added to the trophy case for Eagles Fly Higher, just 12 nights after he won the Grade 2 Eastex Stakes on March 20. Owned by the Lamont, Okla. partnership of Darling Farms and Valeriano Racing Stables, Eagles Fly Higher is trained by Casey Black and was ridden to victory by Mario Delgado.

Mr Dillard attempted to make things interesting for Eagles Fly Higher, going head-to-head with the winner for the first 150 yards of the 350-yard event. Rolling outside, Eagles Fly Higher found more run over the final half and pulled away to a daylight win. Mr Dillard settled for second while Jesse D was 1-1/2 lengths behind the winner in third. Eagles Fly Higher handled the measure in :17.582 over a fast track, earning a speed index of 89.

Away as the heavy betting favorite at 2-5 odds, Eagles Fly Higher returned $2.80 to win, $2.40 to place and $2.10 to show. Mr Dillard paid $4 to place and $2.40 to show. Jesse D paid $2.20 to show. The remaining order of finish was Uncurled Fist (4th), JK Wildcat Red (5th), Relentless Jessie (6th), A Valiant Diamond (7th) and Inseperable Apollo (8th).

The Mr Jet Moore triumph was the ninth overall from 25 career starts for Eagles Fly Higher, to go with four seconds and six thirds. A son of One Famous Eagle from the First Down Dash mare Lone Bet, Eagles Fly Higher made $39,000 to move his total bankroll to $596,595. He was bred by V.H. Harman and Robert Moudy III.

This was the first victory in the Mr Jet Moore Stakes for all of the connections of Eagles Fly Higher.

The Mr Jet Moore Stakes is named in honor of the 1972 American Quarter Horse Association World Champion who was bred in Oklahoma by the late Bob Moore. Among his many accomplishments, Mr Jet Moore won the inaugural Champion of Champions race at Los Alamitos in Southern California in 1972. The race is the richest event for older Quarter Horses in North America.

Remington Park racing continues Friday and Saturday, April 2 & 3, featuring 10 trials each night for the $926,500 Remington Park Futurity. The fastest five from each night of qualifying will move on the final on April 17. The first race nightly is at 6pm-Central.
