CAT DADDYS LIL GIRL TAKES DOWN THIRD STAKES WIN OF HER CAREER, WINNING $75,480 EASY DATE STAKES
OKLAHOMA CITY, OK – April 18, 2021 – It took Cat Daddys Lil Girl until her 12th start to get her first stakes win, but it only took her one trip over the Remington Park racing surface to win her first stakes race here, winning the $75,480 Easy Date Stakes.
It was the debut race in Oklahoma City for Cat Daddys Lil Girl. She won her first stakes in her 12th career race when she won the New Mexico Filly & Mare Championship at Zia Park and then in her 13th start, captured the Lou Wooten Handicap at Sunland Park. Both of those were graded events in late 2019 and early 2020.
Jockey Noe Garcia took the reins for trainer Jason T. Giles and owners Jimmy Negrete and Jimmy Vasquez of Carlsbad, N.M. and he broke third from the gate with a little inward move. Once straightened out, Cat Daddys Lil Girl went directly to the front and outlasted two others in a three-way photo for the win. Sent off at 5-1 odds, Cat Daddys Lil Girl ran a head better than Ratification (2-1), who was another half-length in front of third-place finisher HH Gailforce (7-1).
The post-time favorite at 2-1 odds, Kiss Thru Fire, ran sixth. The others in the order of finish included: Kieva (4th), Macs Lady M (5th), Olena Sangria (7th), Call Me Kash (8th), Diamond and a Half (9th), Chics With Coronas (10th) and Ritas Back On Track (11th).
This was a case of the old gray mare being exactly what she used to be and more. Cat Daddys Lil Girl is a daughter of Big Daddy Cartel, out of the Man On the Move mare Girlonthego, and was bred in New Mexico by the owners. Cat Daddys Lil Girl earned $41,400 from the purse and her new running line is 18 starts, eight wins, five seconds and one third for a total bankroll of $388,682. Her running time for the 350 yards on a fast track was :17.378 for a 94 speed index. She paid $12.60 to win, $5.40 to place and $4 to show.
It was the first win in the Easy Date Stakes for all the connections of Cat Daddys Lil Girl. The Easy Date Stakes is named after the 1974 All American Futurity winner and 1975 American Quarter Horse World Champion who was bred, owned and trained by Walter Merrick of Sayre, Okla.
Remington Park racing continues on Sunday, April 18, with the first of 11 events at 6pm-Central.
