CANCEL CULTURE CANCELS ALL HOPES OF OPPONENTS, WINNING OKLAHOMA PAINT AND APPALOOSA JUVENILE

by Richard Linihan

OKLAHOMA CITY, OK – March 24, 2025 – Two-time defending champion trainer at Remington Park, Dee Keener, won the $35,000 Oklahoma Paint and Appaloosa Juvenile Stakes for the third year in a row, this time with Cancel Culture.

In fact, the only time a Keener horse has not won this race was the first running of the race in 2022 when Ty Blackwell-trained Livewires Turnpike was the winner. Since then, Keener won it in 2023 with Mighty Mocha and last year with WF Jess Candy.

On Saturday, Roman Cruz booted home Cancel Culture for Keener and owner 918 Bloodstock (J.V. Ross, D.V.M.) of Coweta, Okla.

Cruz and Cancel Culture burst from the gate ahead of the field by a half-length before the blink of an eye. He had to hang on to win by a neck with a fast-closing field around him, going 300 yards.

Cancel Culture, is a 2-year-old Oklahoma-bred Paint by three-time World Champion Painted Turnpike, out of the Country Quick Dash mare Quick Caydee. She was bred by Wendy Ingersoll, Keener’s wife.

Cancel Culture got her neck up just ahead of runner-up Wired Cartel (the 7-5 wagering favorite), who was another half-length in front of third-place finisher Mamasletthembecowboys (7-1). The rest of the order of finish was Big Poppy (11-1) fourth, Harlees Story (20-1) fifth, Turnpike Bandit (23-1) sixth, PT Glitz (3-1) seventh, A Swift Grip (19-1) eighth, OG Sin City (15-1) ninth and Speedy Molly (9-1) last.

Cancel Culture had run third, beaten only a neck in her trial for the Oklahoma Paint and Appaloosa Futurity in her only other start on March 6 behind the winner PT Glitz. Cancel Culture got her revenge beating that horse among the rest on Saturday. She stopped the timer in :15.590 seconds over the fast track and earned a speed-index of 87.

As a 12-1 longshot, Cancel Culture paid $26.60 to win, $10.40 to place and $5.40 to show. Cancel Culture earned $13,300 in the Oklahoma Paint & Appaloosa Juvenile and she improved her two-race record to one win and one third-place finish.
