ALLIEKAT DYNASTY GETS FIRST STAKES WIN, TAKING FL LADY BUG UNDER JOCKEY ROMAN CRUZ

OKLAHOMA CITY, OK – May 27, 2023 – Alliekat Dynasty extended her winning streak to three in a row and in the process won the $76,000 FL Lady Bug Stakes for the first black type win of her career on Saturday night at Remington Park.

Jockey Roman Cruz, riding for trainer Jesus Ruiz, was as surprised as anyone that Alliekat Dynasty broke on top and never was headed to win the FL Lady Bug.

“I was really surprised that she was standing so still in the gate while everyone else went wild,” said Cruz, “She usually breaks slow. Not tonight. She broke good and was gone.”

Cruz and the 2-year-old filly by FDD Dynasty, out of the Apollitical Jess mare Pollitical Scorpion, hit the wire a neck in front as the winner at 350 yards on a fast track in a time of :17.693, earning an 89-speed index. Breathing down her neck at the finish was 15-1 longshot Where Is Camila who was another three-quarters of a length in front of third-place finisher She Looks Political (20-1). The 2-1 favorite Vintage Candy got crushed and knocked inward coming out of the gate and never had a chance, finishing eighth in the field of 10.

Alliekat Dynasty was sent off at 5-2 odds as the second favorite and paid $7.80 to win, $4.60 to place and 3.40 to show. The winning filly started her three-race win streak with a maiden win on April 2 here and then followed that with win No. 2 in the Heritage Place Futurity trials on May 12. She got her biggest paycheck for this stakes win, however, pulling down $42,600 for owner Arrowhead Racing of Wapanucka, Okla. Alliekat Dynasty improved her record to four starts, three wins for $62,617 in earnings.

“She has started a little slowly,” said Ruiz, “but she is starting to figure it out.”

Alliekat Dynasty was a private purchase but seems to have paid for her keep in a very short time. She was bred in Oklahoma by Jahree Standridge.

The FL Lady Bug Stakes is for 2-year-old Oklahoma-bred fillies. FL Lady Bug was a prominent broodmare and American Quarter Horse Association Hall of Famer inductee. She was owned by Hall of Fame owners and breeders Marvin and Lela Barnes of Ada, Okla.
