All Pointz Bulletin Finds Her Moment Of Zen, Winning Grade 3 $262,700 Oklahoma Derby

OKLAHOMA CITY, OK–MARCH 19, 2022–The biggest concern for trainer Monty Arrossa and jockey Francisco Calderon was whether All Pointz Bulletin would be calm enough to win the Grade 3, $262,700 Oklahoma Derby on Saturday night at Remington Park.

She was and they did.

“We tried some new things to get her to calm down and it seems to have worked,” Arrossa said. “We ponied her and that has done the trick. That was a tough field. I just want to thank the crew and Francisco. They did a wonderful job with her.”

Calderon said she showed how big her heart was in a race that went to the wire with necks apart for the win.

“She sure is gutsy,” Calderon said. “She tried so hard to get there. But I expected it. We have been getting her calm. I saw the 10-horse coming at the end and I just started praying to God.”

His prayers were answered when his 3-year-old filly by Tres Seis, out of the Corona Cartel mare All N the Jeans, stretched her neck out and won by that amount over rival Dashing Movement, who was made the 2-1 favorite by the betting public. Valerity was another head back in third in the four-horse photo. Revenant Moon came in fourth.

All Pointz Bulletin made $105,080 from the purse and improved her record for owners Dunn Ranch (Matt Dunn) of Wynnewood, Okla., to eight starts, four wins, one second and one third for $137,308 in the bank.

It was the first win in the Derby for all the connections of this filly. Arrossa has only had a full string at Remington Park this year and last. It also was the first time the winner had won in stakes company.

All Pointz Bulletin earned a speed index of 91 when she stopped the clock for 350 yards in :17.612 over the fast track. At 6-1 odds, she returned $14 to win, $7.40 to place and $5.20 to show to her backers.

“She’s such a professional,” said Calderon. “She’s just awesome.”

She was bred in Oklahoma by AQHA Racing Champion Breeder Bobby D. Cox.

Runner-up Dashing Movement picked up $44,659 for second. Trainer Santos Carrizales, Jr. conditions the son of A Dashing Valentine for owner Josefina Guzman. Minne De Leon bred the gelding in Texas from the Sixes Royal mare Sies Of Hearts. A stakes winner Dashing Movement has earned nearly $150,000.

Trainer Jesus Ruiz named jockey Paul Nieto to ride third-place finisher Valerity for owner Troy McClennen. The daughter of Volcom earned $28,987 for her effort. DSK Ltd. bred the bay filly in Oklahoma from the Corona Cartel mare Corona Couture.

The remaining order of finish in the Oklahoma Derby was Revenant Moon (4th)Jesst For Speed (5th), Famous Coronas (6th), Freighttrain King (7th), Saints new Weapon (8th), If U Could See Me (9th) and Five Bar Barbie (10th).
