REMINGTON PARK TRACK OPENS FOR TRAINING, CRAWFORD HORSES OUT FIRST
OKLAHOMA CITY – February 7, 2023 — A cloudy and cool morning with temperatures in the low 40s greeted the initial training session of 2023 as Remington Park opened the racing surface. Trainer Clint Crawford was first on the track with a pair of horses including a stakes winner from a year ago.
FDD Cloud, winner of the $100,000 Heritage Place Juvenile in 2022 at Remington Park, moved to the track under jockey Jorge Torres. He broke his maiden status in his career debut, in addition to his Heritage Place Juvenile score. The Texas-bred is owned by Preston Cloud of Sallisaw, Okla.
Completing the first pair of horses for Crawford was Dashin Approach, a 4-year-old gelding by Mr PYC To You from the Panther Mountain broodmare Panther Not A Kitty. Owned by George and Peggy Cobb of Yukon, Okla., the New Mexico-bred Dashin Approach seeks his first victory at Remington Park. He has three career wins, all in New Mexico including victory in the $113,000 New Mexico Breeders’ Futurity at Sunray Park in 2021.

🏅OQRHA Hall of Fame Inductee - JD Anderson🏅
JD Anderson has spent more than sixty years in the horse business, and at eighty-nine years old he is still training. He grew up in Oklahoma, where his father ran horses on bush tracks across the state, and he learned the work from the ground up. His family raced multiple breeds, and that carried on to his own career as he trained Quarter Horses, Paints and Appaloosas with equal skill.
JD became known for his steady approach and the pride he took in prepping a horse the right way. He established long-standing relationships with owners and built a record that earned respect across the region. In 1992 he was the leading Quarter Horse trainer at Blue Ribbon Downs, and he raced at every major Oklahoma track during his long career, as well as several tracks throughout surrounding states.
Beyond his work on the racetrack, JD played an important part in helping bring pari-mutuel racing to Oklahoma. He was active in the early formation of the Oklahoma Quarter Horse Racing Association and worked alongside other horsemen to support the growth of the industry.
His induction reflects a career built on consistency, experience and genuine dedication to Oklahoma racing. Few have stayed the course as long as JD, and his place in the Hall of Fame is well earned. ... ’Expand’See Less
