JS ON FIRE RALLIES TO SCORE THE BOYD MORRIS MEMORIAL AT REMINGTON PARK

OKLAHOMA CITY, OK – May 31, 2025 — Js On Fire came on to win the $75,000 Boyd Morris Memorial by a half-length on Saturday, May 31 at Remington Park.

The Boyd Morris is for Oklahoma-breds, 3-year-old and older at 400 yards.

Owned by Joshua Owens of Pleasanton, Texas, Js On Fire is trained by Michael Joiner and was ridden by Bryan Candanosa. A 4-year-old horse, Js On Fire found the finish line in :19.47 on the fast track, for a speed index of 99.

Lucky Luke was the runner-up while Kiss My Hat finished third after causing a delay for the race.

There was a delay before the running of the Boyd Morris Memorial. As the field of 10 was loaded and waiting on the starter, Kiss My Hat acted up in the gate, dispatching jockey Juan Pulido who was unable to honor the mount. Kiss My Hat was returned to the paddock to pick up new rider, Nestor Duran. The field left the gate without issue after a second loading process.

Js On Fire was the wagering favorite at 6-5 odds and paid $4.60 to win, $3.20 to place and $2.60 to show. The Boyd Morris win is his second stakes score of this season, as he also won the Remington Park Challenge Championship on April 6.

This was the second win in the Boyd Morris Memorial for Joiner who also won the race in 2021 with Oatman Creek Senator. Js On Fire provided the first win in the race for his owner and jockey.

The remaining order of finish in the Boyd Morris Memorial, after the top three finishers: One Stolin Eagle, 4^th; Cowboys R Myheros, 5^th; Sir James, 6^th; A Legacy Of Tales, 7^th; Rare Roy, 8^th; Richrollnwagon, 9^th; with Jess A Rednec Cowboy 10^th and last.

The Boyd Morris Memorial is named after the famed Quarter Horse jockey who won the 1964 All American Futurity on Decketta. The Blanchard, Okla. native went on to be a prominent trainer of both Quarter Horses and Thoroughbreds once his successful riding career ended. He was a mainstay from the beginning at Remington Park prior to his passing in 1998.
