HARD TO POLITIC CAPTURES BOYD MORRIS MEMORIAL AT REMINGTON PARK

OKLAHOMA CITY, OK – May 31, 2026 – Hard To Politic picked up his second stakes win of the Remington Park season on Saturday, May 30, winning the $75,000 Boyd Morris Memorial against fellow Oklahoma-breds.

The race, for 3-year-olds and older at 400 yards, had Curls Magic Wagon get the lead at the start but that did not last long. Under jockey Juan Pulido, Hard To Politic quickly made the front and drew away to a half-length victory over Js On Fire who rallied for second. Curls Magic Wagon held on for third, another three-quarters of a length behind the runner-up.

Hard To Politic crossed the finish in :19.536 over the fast track for a speed index of 96.

The wagering favorite at 4-5 odds, Hard To Politic paid $3.60 to win, $2.40 to place and $2.10 to show. Js On Fire (3-1) paid $3.20 to place and $2.40 to show. Curls Magic Wagon (3-1) paid $2.20 to show.

Hard To Politic added the Boyd Morris Memorial to his score in the Mr Jet Moore here on April 4. That race was also against Oklahoma-breds. Hard To Politic is owned and trained by Samuel Mendoza of Garden City, Kan. He is a 4-year-old gelded son of Apollitical Jess from the Foose mare Hardtoget, bred in Oklahoma by Louis Malechek III.

Overall Hard To Politic has 10 career starts with five wins and two seconds, with no thirds. The winner’s share of $44,100 moves his lifetime earnings to $173,697.

The remaining order of finish was: Apollitical Time (46-1) fourth; Lightnin Strikes (9-1) fifth, Dash For Power (13-1) sixth and Clareets Boy (26-1) seventh. Lucky Luke scratched before the race.

This was the first victory for all of the connections of Hard To Politic in the Boyd Morris Memorial.

The Boyd Morris Memorial is named after the famed Quarter Horse jockey who won the 1964 All American Futurity on Decketta. The Blanchard, Okla. native went on to be a prominent trainer of both Quarter Horses and Thoroughbreds once his successful riding career ended. He was a mainstay from the beginning at Remington Park prior to his passing in 1998.
