FLYING FIRE WINS FL LADY BUG STAKES AT REMINGTON PARK

OKLAHOMA CITY, OK – May 31, 2026 –Flying Fire won for the second time in only three starts lifetime to become a stakes winner, capturing the $75,000 FL Lady Bug Stakes on Saturday, May 30 at Remington Park.
The 2-year-old Oklahoma-bred filly by Flying Cowboy 123, out of the Walk Thru Fire mare Rfancy Fire, was ridden to victory by Ramiro Garcia for trainer Jason Olmstead in the 350-yard race. She won easily, by 1-1/4 lengths as the 4-1 second wagering favorite in the race. She paid $10.40 to win, $5 to place and $3.60 to show, beating 3-1 wagering favorite, Relentless Ruth, who got up for second, a head in front of Tellem Im in the 918, who finished third at 8-1 odds.
Flying Fire earned $43,200 from the purse and improved to 3-2-1-0, $54,350 in earnings. She is owned and was bred by Bryan Hawk of Shawnee, Okla.
Flying Fire was a winner at first asking in her career debut by a full length against Remington Park Futurity trial horses on April 3 as the 5-2 favorite. She did not qualify for that final, but came back and ran in the Heritage Place Futurity trials, finishing second, well off the qualifying time she needed for that final. That’s when Olmstead and Hawk opted for her next try to be in the FL Lady Bug on Saturday night. All three of her races were at Remington Park.
Flying Fire stopped the timer for 350 yards in :17.914 on the fast track, good for an 81 speed index.
The rest of the order of finish past the top three horses was Auntie D (11-1) fourth, Shes Qualified (9-2) fifth, Lookee Here Daddy (64-1) placed sixth through disqualification of She Makes It Special, who dropped only one spot to seventh at 5-1 odds, My Flying Eagle (12-1) eighth, and Ruby Blue (9-2) ninth. There was one scratch in the race and that was PYC Sivako, who was declared from the race early in the day.
The FL Lady Bug Stakes is for 2-year-old Oklahoma-bred fillies. FL Lady Bug was a prominent broodmare and American Quarter Horse Association Hall of Fame inductee. She was owned by Hall of Fame owners and breeders Marvin and Lela Barnes of Ada, Okla.
