CURLS JOYFUL WAGON WINS JUNOS REQUEST STAKES AT REMINGTON PARK
OKLAHOMA CITY, OK – May 31, 2025 — The tables turned for Curls Joyful Wagon on Saturday, May 31 at Remington Park as she had a clean trip and no traffic issues from rivals in winning the Grade 1, $108,000 Junos Request Stakes by three-quarters of a length, defeating Alliekat Dynasty.
The results was flipped on April 19 as Alliekat Dynasty came out on top between the two in the Easy Date Stakes. That night, Alliekat Dynasty moved ahead of Curls Joyful Wagon in mid-race then drifted outside, herding Curls Joyful Wagon farther toward the outside in the process.
There were no issues in the Junos Request for either of the top two as Curls Joyful Wagon had a great start and was on the front of the 400-yard event for the majority of the race. Alliekat Dynasty was able to gain some over the course but could not catch the winner as Curls Joyful Wagon crossed the finish in :19.486 for a speed index of 99 on the fast track. BP Moonlight was another half-lengths behind the runner-up, finishing third.
Curls Joyful Wagon was the wagering favorite at 3-2 odds and paid $5 to win, $3 to place and $2.20 to show. The Junos Request score was her 10th career win from 16 attempts to go with a second and a pair of thirds. Making $63,300, Curls Joyful Wagon has no earned $466,005.
Owned and bred in Oklahoma by Martin Stacy and trained by John Stinebaugh, Curls Joyful Wagon was handled by jockey Francisco Calderon who won the Junos Request for a second straight year. He won aboard Flying Sophia in 2024.
A 5-year-old mare by PYC Paint Your Wagon from the Spit Curl Jess broodmare Eye A Spit Curl Girl, Curls Joyful Wagon provided her owner and trainer with their first wins in the Junos Request Stakes.
The remaining order of finish behind the top three was Deep Blue, 4th; Flying Sophia, 5th; Hallmarke, 6th; Baby Ruth, 7th; Woopaa, 8th; First Time For Wine, 9thand Edelyns PYC, 10th and last.
