RELENTLESS AMERICAN STAYS UNBEATEN AFTER TWO STARTS, WINNING REMINGTON PARK JUVENILE
by Richard Linihan
OKLAHOMA CITY, OK – April 29, 2024 – Relentless American has had only two starts lifetime, his Remington Park Futurity trial and the $100,000 Remington Park Juvenile Stakes on Monday. He proved the best in the Juvenile to stay undefeated.
This 2-year-old gelded son of Hes Relentless, out of the Tres Seis mare Tritoon, won his futurity trial by an impressive full length on April 11. Unfortunately for him, the time of :16.928 was not fast enough to qualify for today’s final of the $854,775 Remington Park Futurity. Trainer Jason Olmstead then entered him in the Juvenile Stakes for owner Tom Maher of Pierre, S.D. Olmstead’s top rider, Edwin Escobedo, stayed aboard and drove this gelding hard from the gate and he was never headed in the 330-yard race for 2-year-old Oklahoma-bred American Quarter Horses.
Relentless American was sent off as the 8-5 wagering favorite in this race and he drew away like a good thing, winning by 1-1/4 lengths. He covered the distance in :16.677 on the fast track for a 93 speed-index. The winner was bred in Oklahoma by Tom and Bill Maher.
The backers of Hes Relentless received $5.40 to win, $3.60 to place and $2.60 to show across the board. He earned $41,667 for the victory and has now earned $50,559 in those two wins.
It was the first win in this stakes series for all the connections.
