OKLAHOMA CITY, OK – April 28, 2022 – American Quarter Horses will compete for higher purses over the final 18 race dates of the 2022 Remington Park spring season. Beginning Thursday, April 28, overnight purses for Quarter Horses will increase by $2,500 for the remainder of the season.
The elevation in purses takes place as Remington Park has enjoyed increased on-track business over the first eight weeks of the season. The correlating jump in pari-mutuel handle is due to Remington Park being fully open for racing in the spring season, for the first time since 2019.
The Covid-19 pandemic forced many restrictions to Remington Park’s on-track racing presentation. Attendance was non-existent to the public for much of the 2020 spring season, and was limited for all of the 2021 session.
Remington Park racing will feature the Grade 1, $100,000 Leo Stakes on Saturday, April 30. That event drew a talented field of 11, including Danjer, the reigning American Quarter Horse Association World Champion. Also in the field is the defending champ in the Leo Stakes, Jess My Hocks, who defeated Danjer in this race last year.
Remington Park’s first race Thursday through Saturday, April 28-30, is at 6pm with Sunday racing on May 1 underway at 4pm. All times are Central. The Remington Park season continues through May 28.
