REVENANT MOON EXPLODES TO FASTEST TRIAL TIME AT REMINGTON PARK FOR GRADE 2 OKLAHOMA FUTURITY
OKLAHOMA CITY, OK – March 9, 2021 – Revenant Moon broke like a rocket from the gate in the trials for the Grade 2 Oklahoma Futurity on Monday at Remington Park. When she hit the wire, the 2-year-old filly was in front of her competitors by two full lengths.
The time of :15.596 for 300 yards over the fast track was the fastest qualifying time in 14 trials on Monday. She will be the one to beat in the finals of the $380,000 (estimated) Oklahoma Futurity final on Saturday, March 20. The Oklahoma Futurity is the longest-running futurity in the sport of American Quarter Horse racing, with the first edition in 1947. The 2021 race will be the 80th running, held since 2006 at Remington Park.
A daughter by A Revenant, out of the FDD Dynasty mare Sochi Moon, will have her work cut out for her, however. Revenant Moon is trained by Trey Wood for owner Trey Odom, Scott Bryant and Norman W. Allen of Ropesville, Texas, and was ridden to victory by Jose Alvarez. Revenant Moon scored a speed index of 83 for her trial effort.
Revenant Moon’s sire, A Revenant, was the 2016 American Quarter Horse Association Champion 2-year-old colt when he won three-of-four starts, including winning the Grade 1 Rainbow Futurity at Ruidoso Downs in New Mexico. Revenant Moon was bred in New Mexico by Dosi and Norma Alvarez.
Trainer Ruben Soto will be wearing two six-guns in the finals and shooting for the upset with his two horses – Hock It To You and De Laurentis – finishing as the second and fourth-fastest in the trials.
