SEVEN TALES PUTS UP FASTEST TIME OF DAY IN SECOND OKLAHOMA FUTURITY TRIAL OF DAY, HOLDS UP REST OF WAY
OKLAHOMA CITY – March 7, 2020 – A total of 100 American Quarter Horses went to post Saturday in trials for 2-year-olds attempting to qualify for the finals of the Grade 2 Oklahoma Futurity at Remington Park. Seven Tales put up a stellar time in the second trial and it held up to give him the honors as top qualifier of the 10 making the final.
A 2-year-old gelded son of Wagon Tales, out of the No Secrets Here mare La Seven Seven Seven, stopped the timer in :15.761 over a fast track for a speed index of 78. No one could match or beat that time in the next 10 trials. Jockey Agustin Silva cruised home to the victory for trainer Mary Meza. The bay gelding is owned by Paula Villatoro of Dallas. Not a bad showing for Seven Tales’ career debut.
Five of the top 10 qualifiers Saturday did so out of one race, the 11th trial on the card. Trainer Monty Arrossa qualified the most among conditioners here with the third-and fourth-fastest horses. Leading rider, and reigning 2019 AQHA Champion Jockey James Flores, qualified both horses for Arrossa. He was the only jockey with more than one to make the final.
