Remington Park Stable Area Set to Receive Horses, Training Races to begin February 12
OKLAHOMA CITY – February 1, 2020 – The 2020 American Quarter Horse, Paint and Appaloosa Season at Remington Park will begin March 6. Stable area activity is heating up with horsemen bringing horses on property beginning Monday, Feb. 3.
Many trainers have started setting up their barns in preparation for the arrival of their athletes. Remington Park will open the stable gate to allow horses on property Feb. 3, at 12:01am. Horses will have access to the racetrack beginning Tuesday morning, Feb. 4.
Training races will begin Wednesday, Feb. 12. The 250-yard events are conducted, primarily for horses getting ready for their career debuts in pari-mutuel competition. The vast majority of those competing in the training, or schooling, races are rookie 2-year-olds.
Trainers may use the training races to get their horses approved and eligible for pari-mutuel events. They can also make their horses eligible through a series of official workouts. Morning training hours will normally take place from 7-11am.
The 2020 live racing schedule at Remington Park begins Friday, March 6 at 6pm. The Opening Weekend continues Saturday, March 7 at 4pm and Sunday, March 8 at 1:30pm. After the Opening Weekend, Remington Park will move into a regular Thursday through Sunday weekly schedule.
