Oklahoma City – April 14, 2016 - Returning from a tough stakes engagement where he ran third in the Grade 1, $100,000 Leo Stakes on April 2, The Big Time was ready for action in Thursday’s $23,850 allowance feature at Remington Park. The 4-year-old gelding proved his in-the-money run at the highest level was not a fluke, rolling to win over 350 yards by 1-1/2 lengths.

Owned and bred in Oklahoma by Irene Velasquez of Ulysses, Kan. and trained by Verle Bohner, The Big Time was ridden by David Brown. Away sharply, The Big Time was in command early and easily pulled clear of his rivals, crossing the finish in :17.289 seconds over a fast track. Honeymoon Candy was along for second with Bye Bye Birdy another head behind for third.

The wagering favorite at 8-5 odds, The Big Time paid $5.20 to win, $3.40 to place and $2.60 to show. Honeymoon Candy paid $7.80 to place and $4.20 to show. Bye Bye Birdy returned $5.40 to show.

The score was the fourth from 15 career starts for The Big Time, and his second win at Remington Park. Already a three-time starter this season, The Big Time is by Bigtime Favorite from the Corona Cartel mare Bosanova Baby. The allowance triumph was worth $12,390, boosting the earnings of The Big Time to $84,572.

The 2016 American Quarter Horse Season at Remington Park continues Friday thru Sunday, April 15-17. The $22,500 Paul Harber Memorial for Paints and Appaloosas is the featured stakes race on Friday, April 15. Painted Turnpike, the current star in Paint racing, will compete in the Paul Harber Memorial. Also on Friday night, trials for the American Paint Classic Futurity.

The first race Friday and Saturday night at Remington Park is at 6pm. Sunday afternoon racing begins at 1:30pm. All times are Central.
