Lil Stepper With Best Training Race Time With Tailwind at Remington Park

OKLAHOMA CITY – The 2016 American Quarter Horse Season gets underway Friday night at Remington Park. Wednesday afternoon held another round of training races to continue the preparation for many young horses.

Lil Stepper, an Iowa-bred 2-year-old colt, posted the fastest time from 11 training events at 250 yards. Lil Stepper, aided by a light 4mph tailwind, crossed the finish in :13.46 seconds over a fast track while hand ridden by Jorge Torres. Owned by Bob Urich and trained by Stacy Hill, Lil Stepper is by Lil Kool Wagon from the Special Legend mare RU Special.

The 11 training races on Wednesday at Remington Park were contested under cloudy skies with tailwinds out of the north ranging from 4-11mph. Remington Park has now conducted 73 training races prior to the beginning of the season.

The Opening Weekend for the Remington Park season begins at 6pm on March 11. Saturday racing on March 12, featuring a total of 15 Oklahoma Futurity trials, will begin at 5pm. Sunday racing on March 13 starts at 1:30pm and features trials for the Oklahoma Derby and the first stakes races of the meeting in the $50,000 Eastex and the $70,000 Mighty Deck Three.

Open daily for casino gaming and simulcast racing, Remington Park features the Bricktown Brewery on the casino floor. Admission, general parking and valet parking are always free at Remington Park, home of the historic $414,000 Oklahoma Futurity. The 75th running of the oldest futurity in Quarter Horse racing takes place on Saturday, March 26, 2016.
