JOCKEY JUSTINE KLAIBER HOT AS A FIRECRACKER WITH RIDING TRIPLE
OKLAHOMA CITY – March 13, 2020 – Jockey Justine Klaiber and the Willis family of trainers teamed up for a red-hot night of racing at Remington Park on Thursday. Klaiber visited the winner’s circle three times to begin the racing week.
Klaiber won two for Eddie Lee Willis and had another victory for his dad, Eddie Willis. The leading female rider during the American Quarter Horse, Paint and Appaloosa Season in Oklahoma City showed her stuff, winning the second race aboard Contender ($7.20 to win) for the father, Eddie, last year’s training title winner and 10-time title holder here. Klaiber also scored for Eddie Lee in races six and eight in the irons ofBV Some Gave All ($12.60) and Fast Prize Secret ($21.80).
Getting to the winner’s circle is nothing new to Klaiber. She was the leading overall rider at Will Rogers Downs in Claremore, Okla., during their fall 2019 season, winning 33 races in only 28 days. She finished one ahead of Cody Smith for the Jockey of the Meet there.
Klaiber, who was born in Arizona and moved to Colorado when she was a kid, finished 11th overall in the 2019 Remington Park standings with 18 winners. She had one-sixth of that Thursday night with her three victories. After starting slowly this season with an 0-for-10 first week, she dug in with her mounts on the first of four race days this second week at Remington. Klaiber regularly rides on Oklahoma circuits as well as Prairie Meadows in Iowa and Canterbury Park in Minnesota.
Contender, a 2-year-old colt by Hes Relentless, out of the PYC Paint Your Wagon mare Painted Sable, is owned and was bred by Bob Moore Farms of Norman, Okla. BV Some Gave All, a 3-year-old gelded son of Travelin Soldier, out of the Azoom mare Azoomin Streak, is owned and was bred by Bella Vista Farms in Oklahoma. Fast Prize Secret, a 3-year-old filly by Hez Our Secret, out of the Corona Cartel mare Ms First Prize Rose, is owned by Flying Hooves Racing and Bella Vista Farms. Ms First Prize Rose was bred in Texas by Johnny Trotter and Glen Blodgett.
The racing week continues Friday through Sunday, March 13-15 at Remington Park. The first race Friday and Saturday is at 6pm with Sunday racing underway at 1:30pm. All times are Central.
