Oklahoma’s Quarter Horse Racing Industry10,200+ starts by Quarter Horses at OK racetracks in 2008. Nearly 40% of those starts were by starters at Remington Park where 1852 different horses started in races.2nd leading producer of racing Quarter Horses in the World. In 2008 there were 2,385 different Quarter Horse starters that were foaled in the state.Ranked #4 the world in racing opportunities for Quarter Horses. In 2008 there were 197 race days, and 2,863 starters with a total of 10,215 starts in races at Oklahoma racetracks. Total purses-over $17 Million.In 2008, Oklahoma racetracks hosted more than 30 Graded Stake races, including five Grade 1 events.Since 1965, 55 Oklahoma bred horses have been recognized as AQHA Champions a total of 95 times, including eight that were named overall World Champion-Refrigerator (twice), See Me Do It, First Down Dash, Miss Thermolark, Easy Date, Tiny’s Gay, Easy Jet, and Laico Bird.
