Remington Park Futurity & Derby Reconfigured For OK-Breds Only -
Now Nation's Richest State Bred Races

Norman, OK—Remington Park and the Oklahoma Quarter Horse Racing Association are pleased to announce the richest State Bred Futurity and Derby in the nation. With $750,000 in total added money, the new races were created to showcase the exceptional quality Quarter Horses bred and foaled in Oklahoma. Owners of Oklahoma Bred horses foaled in 2008 and 2009 are being given the unique opportunity to enroll their horses in one the nations richest racing programs for state bred horses. In 2011, what were formerly Grade 1 and 2 open races will re-emerge as the Remington Park Oklahoma Bred Futurity and Derby - the richest state-bred races in the nation.

The inaugural running of the 2011 Remington Park Oklahoma Bred Futurity, contested at 330-yards, boasts $325,000 in added purse money. Total payments to nominate and remain eligible will be $2,000, consisting of five monthly payments of $400 each beginning October 15 and ending February 15. Trial purses will be $15,000. There will be no time of entry payment, but the payment schedule will permit a $25,000 late supplement at time-of-entry. An additional $100,000 purse will be paid out in the Remington Park Oklahoma Bred Juvenile Stakes, for time trial participants based on fastest times for horses not qualifying for finals of the Futurity. The new Remington Park Oklahoma Bred Futurity will also result in payment of $85,000 in Oklahoma Bred breeders awards to owners of accredited broodmares and $40,000 in awards for accredited stallions. Accredited broodmare and stallion awards will be paid to top three finishers in each trial and to all ten qualifiers in the finals of the Futurity and Derby.

"Oklahoma has long been regarded as a leader in production of quality of Quarter Horses. Remington Park and the Oklahoma Quarter Horse Racing Association believe it is time to showcase the Accredited Oklahoma-Bred Quarter Horses in what we believe to be the richest state-bred futurity and derby offered in the nation," stated Scott Wells of Remington Park.

"We are very excited about these two new races," said Debbie Schauf of the Oklahoma Quarter Horse Racing Association. "They are sure to be two of Remington Park's most prestigious races. We encourage every owner of an Oklahoma Bred two or three year old to take a good look at this program. We believe these races represent an added value incentive for prospective purchasers and Oklahoma-bred breeders at the upcoming yearling sales because of this opportunity to run for so much added money at such a reasonable cost.

"Together with Remington Park, we believe Oklahoma-bred horses, especially weanlings, yearlings, and two year olds, will be some of the most coveted horses consigned to upcoming sales, and that they will be at the top of buyers lists."
